 Velocity Race Cars represents the next evolution of a proven Canadian motorsports legacy. Built on the foundation of Wight Motorsports Inc. (WMI), Velocity carries forward decades of championship-winning performance, precision engineering, and racer-focused support.

Through the acquisition of WMI’s core assets, equipment, parts systems, and production infrastructure, Velocity Race Cars ensures continuity for existing customers while expanding in-house capabilities and long-term support. Racers can expect the same trusted quality and craftsmanship—now backed by additional resources and a clear vision for growth.

Velocity Race Cars is led by Pete Vanderwyst, President & Team Principal, and Terry Simpson, Vice President, Operations & Competition Director. Together, they bring a balanced combination of strategic leadership, technical depth, and real-world racing experience focused on building competitive cars and supporting racers at every level.

The leadership team also includes Jamie Dyson, Parts, Sales & Marketing Manager, overseeing parts programs and customer support to ensure racers receive reliable service and technical expertise. Founder Dave Wight remains supportive of the transition and continues to make himself available to assist customers and provide guidance.

 Velocity Race Cars is recognized as a premier Canadian builder of competitive short-track race cars, specializing in both oval and road racing platforms. Velocity-built chassis and race cars compete across North America, including in series such as the NASCAR Canada Series, Super Late Model, Pro Late Model, and Super Stock divisions.

In addition to complete chassis construction, Velocity Race Cars provides full-scale, one-stop race car services. Our offerings include repair and fabrication for a wide range of race vehicles, Pull Down System services, Spring Smasher and Shock Dyno tuning, as well as a comprehensive selection of performance parts and accessories everything teams need to stay competitive at the highest level.

 Velocity Race Cars is located at 24 Laing Blvd., St. Thomas, Ontario, just 15 minutes west of Highway 401. Our team of full-time and at-track specialists is dedicated to building, repairing, and supporting high-performance race cars across Canada and the U.S.
